Autism Council of Utah

by Eleven 27. March 2014 15:08

Utah has the highest cases of diagnosed autism in the country with 1 in 47 children being diagnosed. Finding the appropriate resources and accommodations can be very difficult, especially to those who have not had any experience in dealing with autism before. The Autism Council of Utah works to collect resources on how to know if your child has autism, how to best work with a life with autism, autism-friendly businesses, and more. The organization is independent and parent run, so you know that they understand how it can be to have a member of the family with autism and the best resources available to your situation.

Alzheimer's Association of Utah

by Eleven 27. March 2014 11:42

The Alzheimer's Association of Utah is working hard to provide the needed services and funding to quell the effects and burdens of Alzheimer's. The organization works to provide programs and services to those affected by the disease as well as the caregivers. They offer a helpline that is available 24/7 to answer questions and direct people to resources to help their specific situations. Aside from the services given to those dealing with Alzheimer's the organization works to educate the public to "know the 10 signs" that indicate that someone has Alzheimer's. Because there is no known cause or cure for the disease, the Alzheimer's Association of Utah works to provide funding for research through sponsorhip and their annual Walk to End Alzheimer's fundraiser, and they help people become involved with clinical studies.
