Now I Can Foundation's Run to Walk

Now I Can is an organization that helps children with neurological disorders learn to maneuver their bodies through intensive physical therapy. The Run to Walk is a 5k and a one mile fun run on  Saturday, May 17th whose proceeds all go directly to help the physical therapy scholarships of the children in the foundation. The highlight of the event is seeing the progress and determination of the patients who are just learning to walk participate in any way they can. Everyone is welcome to particpate in the event, from the competitive runner to those who prefer a leisurely stroll.

Project Read

Project Read's mission is to improve literacy in the community. They work with anyone 16 and older whose reading and writing are below a 7th grade level. One of the greatest advantages of their program is that each student will receive an individual tutor with whom they will meet twice a week. The program as been going on for many years, and has been shown to allow for drastic changes in the lives of the students. Something that so many take for granted, is the key that many lack to be able to provide better for themselves and for their families.

Foster Grandparent Program

The Foster Grandparent Program is a great way for seniors to help support and educate young children. Volunteers visit places like schools, development centers, and anywhere else love and support is needed. The program has proven time after time how benefitial it can be to a struggling child to feel the interest and support of an adult who will genuinely care and teach them. In addition to incredible chance to serve, the program also offers monthly stipends, events, meals and more. Many seniors are seeing how they can make a difference in these childrens' lives.

Utah Parent Center

The Utah Parent Center was established and still operated by parents with children who have special needs as well. They work on a model of peer-to-peer support helping parents learn how to advocate for their child, provide helpful resources, and support from parents who understand. All of the council given is tailored to the needs of the children and the parents.

Utah Valley Moms

Over the past few years, Utah Valley Moms has turned into a community to help moms know of resources in the area and as a group helping each other deal with the many surprises of parenthood. Utah Valley Moms is present on the blog, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter, and Google+.

One of their upcoming events is their free Easter egg hunt, that splits up children according to age as well to give them a more fun experience. Local businesses will also be present with free activities for families. If you are interested in your child being part of the egg hunt you will need to register them, but all families are welcome to the event.
